Designed for outdoor installations in coastal locations, the optional ceramic upgrade has a thin kiln-fi red bonded layer of ceramic over the steel cooking surface providing more protection against the elements. The cook surface is coated with a durable black ceramic finish which inhibits oxidation. The ceramic coating is a secondary process which is fused to the cook surface in a kiln at 1500°F. The combination of binding a ceramic coating to a heavy steel substrate produces a very durable and high performance cooking surface. Properly maintained, this cook surface will provide a lifetime of continual service.
There are a few things to note with regard to protecting the ceramic coating from becoming scratched or gouged. Much like fi ne cookware, one must be careful when using heavy utensils. Avoid heavy impact techniques such as chopping and pounding. Never use a wire brush or other aggressive implements to clean the ceramic cook surface.
